Virgin Australia Velocity Points Can Now be Used to Pay for Petrol at BP
6th Jul 2016
Starting next week, Velocity program members will have another way to use their Frequent Flyer points as they will be able to buy petrol with it on BP service stations. This is the result of the deal made by the two companies.
Velocity members will be able to redeem from $10 to $60 off eligible fuel, as well as other purchases at BP stations. They will first need to go to the Velocity website to create a PIN for their card, which they can then swipe before making a payment at a store at BP.
Karl Schuster, Chief Executive Officer at Velocity said:
"This is a game changer for Australians, with Velocity Points soon to be a form of currency at BP service stations. Velocity is committed to rewarding our members on their everyday expenditure and this initiative with BP takes that one step further. We know some members drive much more than they fly so this gives them an alternative way to use their Points that will ease the pressure on their wallet."
Velocity CEO also added:
"Nearly one million unique members have swiped their Velocity card at BP since the launch of our partnership in April 2015 and we are excited about how this new initiative will ensure the partnership continues to go from strength to strength."
Adam Arnold, BP General Manager, Marketing and Offer Development said:
"This new offer will help Australians rethink how they refuel. The cost of fuel is a significant household expense and we want to help reduce the impact on household budgets by opening up more ways to pay, thanks to our partnership with Velocity Frequent Flyer."
Customers can use their Velocity Points at BP service stations in three easy steps:
1. Create a 4-digit Velocity PIN (by going to velocityfrequentflyer.com/createPIN)
2. Swipe their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership card in BP store before payment
By default, when the PIN is first created, the customer will be able to redeem $10, but this can be changed up to $60 at any time. $10 is equal to 1667 Velocity Points.
