Fly From Perth to Brisbane for Under $200 with Tigerair
15th Oct 2016
Would you like to travel from one end of Australia to the other for under $200? Sounds good? Well, Tigerair will let you do that once it launches its new Brisbane-Perth route in June, 2017.
The initial one-way fare will cost $99 (that's just 2 cents per kilometre) and will rise to $189 on average going forward.
The chief executive officer at Tigerair Rob Sharp said the carrier had its eye on the route since Jetstar pull out of it a couple of years back.
Mr Sharp said:
"We've had a good look at it, and we think it'll be a great addition to the route structure in Brisbane. It's quite a late service, leaving at 7pm and arriving about 11.30pm so it's perfect for people to catch some sleep."
Tigerair will be able to maintain very low rates of cancelation (only 0.8 per cent) and improve on-time performance as it will have a third A320 stationed in Brisbane and is also awaiting delivery of one Boeing 737 next March.
Tigerair CEO said:
"We've invested heavily in engineering support services to achieve that objective, and just under 80 per cent of our customers are talking to friends and recommending us. That's a big turnaround in the last five to six years."
Managing director and CEO at Brisbane Airport Julieanne Alroe said Tigerair's investment will offer more flexibility and choice for travellers.
She also said:
"Committing an additional aircraft to Brisbane will bring significant positive returns to the economy, the importance of which cannot be over-estimated. We look forward to supporting these new operations and building on the strong partnership that's already developed between BAC and Tigerair."
Tigerair CEO will today announce a new service between Brisbane and Whitsunday Coast, which will launch on 23rd March next year. One-way fares for this route will start at $49 and it will be a four-time weekly service.
According to Tourism Research Australia, the Whitsunday Coast welcomed 30 per cent more domestic visitors this year up to June than in the same period last year.
