Qatar Airways Upgrading Perth Service

Starting October 1, 2014, travelers between Doha and Perth, Western Australia's capital and largest city, will have a reason to smile as Qatar Airways will increase capacity on the route using a bigger aircraft.
Currently, the airline uses the smaller plane, the B777-200, which accommodates up to 440 passengers in a mono-class layout. With the B777-300, the airliner can accommodate 30% more passengers, or up to 550 seats in a one-class configuration.
Transit passengers from Australia on their way to Europe, Africa, and other Mid-east destinations will also get to enjoy their layover at Doha's new world-class Hamad International Airport, most especially those who use the airport's first class lounge.
The B777-300 upgrade will precede the airline's planned upgrade by 2015 to an A350 aircraft, which is basically just about the same size.
Qatar Airways started the Doha-Perth service in 2012 and it has been found to be a lucrative route, according to its CEO, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker.
The airline CEO further boasted that Doha's newest and world-class airport offer all the best there is that passengers need while waiting for their flight. The airport has a single terminal featuring 138 check-in counters with three passenger concourses. For shopping pleasure, it has over 40,000 square meters of retail, food, and beverage outlets. For first-class passengers, they will also get to enjoy the airport lounges offering 5-star facilities.
Passengers on long layovers, they need not be bored as the airport offers a wide array of facilities that they can use such as a swimming pool, squash courts, a fitness gym. The airport also has something for people who appreciate the visual art as it hosts to a lot of artwork and sculptures done by internationally-renowned artists.
The once-daily flight will leave Doha at 2am, local time, and arrive in Perth at 5:55 in the afternoon, same day. The return flight with depart Perth at 11:30pm, and arrive in Doha at 5:50 the next morning.
Members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program will be able to earn points and status credits when they fly with Qatar Airways as both airlines are fellow members of Oneworld alliance.
