Skywest to Add More Kalgoorlie-Perth Flights

12th Jan 2013

Travelers between Kalgoorlie and Perth will have increased travel options from Monday, January 21, as Skywest Airlines will add a new daily service that brings its frequency to three on that route.

The new service will cause the airline to revise its regional timetable with flight XR80 departing at 7am from Kalgoorlie for a one-hour flight to Perth.

Currently, Skywest serves the route with a two-times daily service with one in the morning, flight XR82 leaving Kalgoorlie at 8.40am and another flight, XR84, departing early in the evening at 6pm.

Jason Bitter, its CEO, said that the launching of its two-times daily service in July 2012 on the Kalgoorlie-Perth route has been met with positive response from both business and leisure travelers. He added that the third daily service will definitely provide business air travelers from Kalgoorlie to maximize their stay while in Perth.

The regional airline is also going to make an adjustment to its Friday Perth-Kalgoorlie-Melbourne service (XR21). With the new schedule, the flight will now leave 90 minutes later than its present schedule, at 10:30am.

The flight will touch down Melbourne at 6:15pm on daylight savings time and one hour earlier during winter season.

Skywest Airlines will soon be part of Virgin Australia when the latter finalizes its take-over of the former in March this year. The Perth-based airline will be rebranded under the bigger carrier's brand enabling Virgin to pit it against QantasLink, Qantas' regional airline.
