Australian carrier Virgin Australia has become an official partner of Parrtjima ? A Festival in Light, which is set to take place this year between 23rd September and 2nd October in Alice Springs and the MacDonnell Ranges.

Virgin Australia Chief Commercial Officer Judith Crompton said the following about the partnership with the Indigenous light festival event:

?We are thrilled to partner with Parrtjima ? A Festival in Light in its first year and hope to help build a bright future for this unique event. We want to give visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this spectacular event and experience Australia?s rich Indigenous art and culture.?

She also added:

?The festival is a great option for families searching for a school holiday adventure, and it?s easy for all visitors to book a travel package through Virgin Australia Holidays.?

Andrew Hopper, Northern Territory Major Events Company general manager said in a statement:

?We are excited to welcome one of Australia?s most recognizable and premium brands as a partner for the first ever Parrtjima ? A Festival in Light. Virgin Australia is an international travel leader and its support is a major endorsement of the festival, which encourages visitors to Alice Springs and the Territory to experience the rich cultural heritage of Central Australia?s Indigenous communistes in a completely new and exciting way.?

Parrtjima is expected to be the biggest light show in Australia so far and is marketed as the first completely authentic Indigenous light festival of its kind in the world. The festival will light about 2.5 kilometers of MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia as well as Alice Springs for 10 straight nights between 23rd September and 2nd October.

It should be quite a spectacle to see, as ?Parrtjima ? A Festival in Light? will include both traditional Indigenous as well as more modern contemporary art, culture and stories, created in partnership with local Aboriginal artists, students and the community, using nothing but light and sound.
