Virgin Australia to Give Free Upgrades for Frequent Flyers

27th Aug 2012

Members of Virgin Australia's frequent flyers will now get to enjoy free business class upgrades.

Recently this week, the airline has issued to all Gold and Platinum members a 'Complimentary Upgrade' of the Velocity Frequent Flyers scheme.

If you are one of the members, visit VelocityRewards.com.au and check out your account. You will find in the My Benefits section the list of upgrades.

This new offer is an added perk for Platinum members as they already enjoy four upgrades every year.

This one-time offer is only available to members who book an economy ticket on Virgin's Flexi Fare program. It can not be used on the cheapest Saver fares.

There is also a big difference in dollar terms between flights. For example, there is a wide discrepancy in ticket price between the low-cost Saver fare and the regular Flexi Fare on unpopular flights between two points. As the peak travel periods set in, the price difference tapers off.

The upgrade is said to be of best value on 'Coast to Coast' flights between Melbourne or Sydney and Perth on board Virgin Australia's Airbus A330 aircraft, as you will get the chance to enjoy the best international-grade business class on a long transcontinental flight.
